Working with the team at Opes Financial Planning saved me from some very serious tax and oversight issues. Its not easy having to review your future when you have personally neglected it for too long, for all that I am so glad I contacted Opes. Opes have guided me through the legislation and opportunities  to maximise my pensions, they have done so in plain english and I cannot recommend them highly enough. We are approaching retirement and with a somewhat messy pension situation, we were unsure what our retirement finances would look like and what we could best do to improve our situation.  Colin put us through a detailed information gathering process, which was useful in itself, and then presented projections in a visual form that was clear and easy to understand even for financial illiterates like ourselves.  He also gave us the push we needed to register for voluntary UK National Insurance contributions which will be a huge help. I had approached several financial advisors, and in nearly every case, they either lost interest after multiple rounds of communication or eventually backed off after months, offering vague excuses. That changed when I engaged with Opes Financial Planning Ltd. From the outset, I could tell I was dealing with professionals who truly knew what they were talking about. Not only did they provide a clear and actionable solution, but they also executed it with a level of diligence and transparency that was unmatched by others I had contacted. Throughout the process, I was kept informed at every stage. All the changes and steps involved were explained upfront, with no surprises. The team worked incredibly hard to overcome the numerous hurdles posed by my Irish pension provider, Irish Life, as well as navigating complex regulations and the requirements of the new UK pension provider. It’s a complicated process, with so many financial variables. Colin explained it all really well to us so we left totally confident we were doing the best thing for my fathers finances. My sister and I have different levels of financial / mathematical understanding so it was great that Colin was able to both give us the fine detail (in an Excel spreadsheet) but also explained the key, important parts to us at a level that everyone could understand. I hope never to have to do another Fair Deal application, but if I do I’ll be giving Colin a call again.
